　　澳大利亚詹姆斯.库克大学(jcu)是位于澳大利亚昆士兰州北部、覆盖整个澳大利亚东北部的公立大学，是澳大利亚国内最顶尖的研究性大学之一，建立于1970年。学校以著名的18世纪英国航海家和探险家詹姆斯库克船长的名字来命名。库克船长在太平洋和南极洲的伟大的航行为世界科学发展作出了巨大的贡献，同时他也是第一位绘制澳大利亚东海岸海图的人。

　　詹姆斯·库克大学共有汤思维尔(townsville)、凯恩斯(cairns)、新加坡(singapore)、布里斯班(brisbane)四个校区及悉尼(sydney)和墨尔本(melbourne)两个学习中心。学校主校区位于昆士兰州北部汤斯维尔市和凯恩斯市，并于2003年4月在新加坡设立国际校区。目前大学共开设信息技术、商业、工程、医学和法律、文科、社会科学、教育、科学等学科和专业，提供包括从学士学位到博士学位的170种以上的本科和120种以上的研究生课程。

　　詹姆斯.库克大学的热带生物科学专业在全球属于领先地位。受到全球认可的学科有海洋生物、沿海与环境科学、热带雨林、世界旅游业组织鉴定学会(wto)、海洋考古学、公共卫生学.其海洋学科是全球顶尖大学之一。它的硕士学位课程有许多独到之处，mba课程在澳大利亚具有相当声誉，并且环境保护、酒店管理、项目管理、医院管理等专业的硕士课程也为该校的强项，另外，詹姆斯.库克大学还可以针对市场的需求量身订制新的硕士专业课程。

　　jcu's main campus moved from asmall campus in the coastal city of townsville(pimlico suburb)to a386-hectare area of bush land in the suburb of douglas,near the army base and the lee of mount stuart,during the early 1970s.it has awidely spread out area of buildings in between native managed bushland.close to the university is the new townsville hospital,csiro research facility and tropical north queensland institute of tafe.

　　cairns campus the cairns campus of james cook university is located 15kilometres nnw of cairns cbd,a city on the east coast of australia,in the suburb of smithfield.opened in 1987,this campus is situated in amountainous rainforest area of tropical north queensland.

　　singapore international campus the singapore international campus was opened in 2003as jcu's first offshore campus.jcu singapore is experiencing rapid growth in student numbers.there are currently around 1200students studying with jcus and it is project ed that there will be more than 2500students by the end of 2009.

　　on 18july,jcu singapore relocated to anew campus at 600upper thomson road.the grounds are suitable for arange of activities and sports facilities,and the buildings hold 30classrooms,9laboratories and the administration office,provision for aretail shop(books and stationery,it support centre,etc),cafeteria and medical centre.the campus is serviced by inexpensive food outlets within a10-minute walking distance,good transport,and many options available for student accommodation.
